Bush Babee on Vacation... Day 1

Yes ladies and gentlemen, Bush Babee is officially on vacation. I spent the better part of the day at the pool successfully maintaining a decent buzz.

Here are some pics:

Look Into the Face of Pain

We should all stare pain in the face.

I'm sitting on my couch partially medicated after having two of my wisdom teeth removed. Today's procedure was solely an extraction and no actual "oral surgery".

During the consultation, the Dr. gave me a couple of options:

  1. I could be put under general anesthetic for the procedure
  2. I could have local anesthetic and with Nitrous Oxide
  3. I could have just the local anesthetic
I chose option 2. I'd never had Nitrous and thought it would be cool. The procedure happened without issues and I was done in about an hour.

This is hopefully the last oral surgery that I will have for a while have since these were my last two wisdom teeth.

My last extraction was at the hand of what I can only compare to an underground dentist that performs procedures in the back of a beauty salon. He only took appointments after noon and he actually had a "day job" performing emergency dentist procedures at those emergency medical places.

Short of always making me wait no less than 2 hours each visit, I actually let him go since he was overcharging me as well as trying to perform unnecessary procedures. He was so unethical that he actually gave me the tooth he extracted.

That big hole is where the tooth chipped and the nerve was exposed. Very painful.

But I have to say that I'm partially a fan of pain. I'm not sure if that makes me masochistic but I've always been into channeling the pain. Accepting it.

Let me be clear, I'm not into going out and looking for it but if it's inevitable (dentist, tattoos), then you should use it in the moment to get through what's happening.

Please discuss amongst yourselves. I'm a little verklempt.

Please enjoy Method Man's, "Bring the Pain".

Peace.

To Be Young Again

Bush Babee at 17

Bush Babee at 34

I'm starting to feel like an old man.

This Saturday I volunteered at Big Tree Forest Preserve. In addition to my TeamWorks group, there were college students from Georgia Tech.

From the conversations around me, I imagine the average age was 19 or 20. As soon as we started to work, these bastards started to piss me off.

Our task was to cover one of the trails with wood chips. But in order to do it, we had to fill these plastic baskets with wood chips and carry them down to the trail using a bamboo stick. One person carrying each end of the stick.

A difficult task within itself.

Well these little bastards starting carrying two baskets on a stick at a time. No doubt trying to impress the girls who were there.

And don't get me started on the girls.

Everything was tight on them. Even the chubby girls were hot. And of course they were wearing those tiny little shorts they love to wear. Just brutal.

Now, everything was cool until I started getting the "eww, is that old man checking me out" look from the girls when we happened to catch eyes.

I remember the days I used to nibble on girls like that like they were corn on the cob. Now I get "old man" looks. A little disheartening.

I truly don't have any regrets about the things I've done, or not done. But I do have a bad case of the "what-ifs". I'm not sure if they are both the same but I like to separate them in my mind.

With all that said, there is no point in living in the past but embrace the things you can do now.

Live like there is no tomorrow, today.

Please enjoy Ahmad's Back in the Day (Remix).

Peace.

Once You Go Mac, You Never Go Back... Part II

It's been just over a year since I got my Mac. I wanted to follow-up on my original post to give an update.

This computer is the single best purchase I've made in recent history (minus my car). I've never enjoyed a computer as much as I have this one. You could make the argument that it's not easy to tinker with settings or it's made for "simple-minded" computer users.

But seriously, the only time I've every went tinkering with a Windows-based computer was when something went wrong, which was often. I don't want to mess with settings. I want to surf the web (watch porn), create music (Garageband) and manage my music. Short of that... nothing.

With all the wonderful things that goes along with owning a Mac, there are some drawbacks:
  1. Unless you have the right mouse, you can't simply "right-click". On my laptop, you have to hold down the Control key see the normal right-click menu.
  2. I had to experiment with web browsers. Safari's cool but it doesn't play nice with Blogger.
  3. Being the bitch that they are, Microsoft made their Office package difficult to work in. It's not that the applications don't run but they are clearly not as user friendly and stable as the Window's version.
  4. You pay more. The average Mac is more expensive than a Window's based PC. Not a big deal to me but it could hold a lot of people back.
  5. The number of cool things that it will do is not straight forward. One year later I still discover a really cool feature it will do. I would recommend a subscription to MacWorld (6 months free with my purchase). It'll allow you to take advantage of all the cool features. Also, the Podcast, Apple Tip of the Week is awesome.
Even with those few things, the pluses far out weigh the minuses.

Please enjoy Too Short's, "Mack Attack" and MC Solaar's, "Obsoléte" (it's French; you need to know there is good hip hop made in other countries).
